Commercial Analyst
We’re looking for a data whiz to join the Business Intelligence team and support the business through an exciting period of growth. With ambitious growth targets for our business in the coming years following a period of strong resilience through the pandemic and international expansion, this role will play a key role in providing analytical support to identify, understand and explain key business KPIs that drive the efficiency of our Contact Centre and which build and maintain healthy and profitable relationships with our portfolio of Supplier Partners.
Reporting to the Head of BI, specific responsibilities will include;
Partners and Product Categories: Analyse key metrics around supplier and category sales, profitability, reviews and their use of our supplier portal to support; healthy margins; flourishing relationships with partners; and our commitment to the Virgin customer experience, in line with business KPIs. Shine the light on commercial strengths and opportunities through regular category deep-dives
Customer Contact and Fulfilment: Track and improve the efficiency of the Customer Service team through the provision of analysis on the various customer touchpoints in the contact centre, identifying any pertinent pain points, forecasting and explaining the detail behind any shifts in trend against forecast. Forecast and monitor the relevance of financial budgets and the popularity of our different fulfilment products on fulfilment volumes. You will also shine a light on the driving factors behind refund rates and liaise with relevant stakeholders to address pertinent issues
Retail Partners: Evaluate the profitability and viability of new opportunities through promotions with existing partners and potential new routes to market
International: Integrate analysis from our recently acquired US business, Virgin Experience Gifts, bringing to light key strengths and opportunities and performance against business KPIs
Trading: Monitor the trading of key business channels through the generation of regular reports and analysis to explain key trading stories
Other Special Projects: Assist the Head of BI, Chief Customer Officer and Chief Financial Officer with any special projects and ad-hoc analysis
Skills and Experience The role requires an individual who has technical, analytical and presentational skills. They will have the ability to think strategically and conceptually and will possess a good level of judgement, drive and influence. The successful candidate will have:
• Strong Excel, analytical and data visualisation skills
• Understanding of the creation and use of relational data models
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• A proactive mindset and be self-motivated to work to tight deadlines
• The ability to build collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders
• Strong communication skills to explain trends to different audiences
• Experience to a customer/client-facing team of an e-commerce business
• Drive to get to the root of a story
• Understanding of SQL queries
