A world leader in the development of scientific instrumentation is looking for PhD Mechanical Engineer – Microns to join their multi-disciplinary R&D department near Beaconsfield. The PhD Mechanical Engineer – Microns role requires the successful candidate to join their well-established mechanical design team.
This team is focused on the mechanical design aspects for a range of scientific analytical instrumentation products.
The team you will be joining are responsible for:
-Conceptualisation, implementation and verification of complete instrument systems.
-Modelling, analysis and development of complex electro-mechanical mechanisms.
-Design and integration of opto-mechanical and kinematic components.
-Specification of engineering materials, surface finishes, and manufacturing methods.
-Application of appropriate tolerancing for high precision components and assemblies.
-Detailed part design, engineering documentation, selection and specification of purchased components.
-Building and evaluating prototypes.
-Design releases – technical product documentation (parts, assemblies, bills of materials & test specifications).
-Transferring designs to manufacturing, developing assembly process, troubleshooting and supporting ramp up.
Lots of their design work is high precision moving parts, down to Micron level. So, it is imperative that you have experience of this, either from your PhD or commercial experience.
They are looking to hire a bright, PhD educated, engineer with some commercial experience.
