Activities & Volunteers Co-ordinator
VICTA is a national charity that works to empower children and young people who are blind or partially sighted. We are passionate about supporting people to live life to the full. We provide a positive work culture where learning and development is actively supported and promoted.
VICTA is looking to recruit an Activities and Volunteer Co-ordinator. As the Activities and Volunteer Co-ordinator, you will support the delivery of our activities calendar built around sport, outdoor expeditions, environmental conservation and creative endeavour. As such, you will need to be just as comfortable leading young people through the physical challenges within the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as you are organising a whale count on a John Muir expedition. It is all about helping children and young adults with vision impairments challenge perceptions they have about their own abilities. As someone who finds it easy to build relationships with others and is calm in a crisis, you will have a passion for making a difference and be happy to get your hands dirty.
Typical duties will include
* Supporting with the delivery of activities
* Helping to generate ideas for our activities calendar
* Devising, planning, organising and ensuring delivery of assigned activities on time and to budget
* Providing appropriate support to participants on activities
* Maintaining our volunteer database including assigning and coordinating appropriate volunteers to activities
* Working on the delivery of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and other expeditions
* Monitoring and collating feedback from participants and volunteers to help shape our activities
A full list of duties is available upon request.
No direct experience is required, and the role would be suitable for a recent graduate. The ideal candidate will have an enthusiasm for outdoor activities combined with good organisational skills. The ideal candidate will be patient, flexible, have a good sense of humour and be happy to be ‘hands on’. We help young people blind people challenge themselves whether that be playing blind football to white water kayaking to blind photography. Due to the nature of the role, there is a lot of out of hours working which will include weekends and travel across the UK and overseas, and you will require a clean full driving licence
