Awards Officer (part time circa 30hrs per week)
What you’ll be doing
This is a great opportunity for someone to really engage with our applicants and represent our small charity foundation.
Based from our Beaconsfield office (shared by the Shanly Group of companies) this is a stand alone role so will suit someone who is highly motivated and driven by making a difference to local good causes.
You will have overall responsibility for managing the award applications to the Shanly Foundation, this will include:
* engaging and communicating with applicants throughout each stage of the award process
* full investigation into each application, including conducting telephone interviews to ask the relevant questions to gain information and establish the solvency of applicants where appropriate through review of financial records
* maintain records for all applications with use of the Benefactor system
* presentation of proposals to the Board of Trustees at monthly meetings, providing a full justification, distilling key issues and information. This will involve preparation of relevant document for the Board meetings and minuting actions.
* work with external auditors to provide required information and documentation for the annual audit
* in conjunction with the marketing team produce content for the foundation’s website and social media channels
* attendance to some charity events and launches on behalf of the Foundation
* liaise with the finance team to arrange payment of donations
* keeping abreast of requirements with the Charity Commission and ensuring these are met.
Skills and experience
* good level of financial awareness, with confidence in assessing accounts
* highly organised self-starter able to work on their own initiative
* previous experience in the charity sector would be an advantage, or the desire to learn about this sector
* administration, accounting and/or commercial experience
* working knowledge of GDPR legislation
* adept communicator, who can positively represent the Foundation.
This role does require a degree of flexibility with working hours (let us know what your preference is).
Due to the nature of this post the successful candidate will currently hold a valid DBS certificate or will be required to undertake a DBS criminal records check.
