Permanent- Part-Time, 30 hrs per fortnight.
Circa £22,700 per annum pro rata
Night Post between the hours of 9pm and 7am – Likely working days will be every other Wednesday and every Saturday and flexibility around other days.
The Role
As a Night Residential Worker, you will be responsible for supporting young people aged 8-18, throughout their stay in The Grove short breaks home, assisting and making the young person's stay with us as relaxing and fun as possible.
Your role will entail safeguarding young people, monitoring children overnight, dealing with situations if they wake up. Administering medication where required. Managing behavioural needs. You will be looking after approximately 5 children and the role will also involve personal care such as washing, dressing, feeding and getting ready for school.
You will make a difference by:
– Taking the lead with case/care planning management for individual children or young people, undertaking assessment of need, developing a care plan and identifying agreed outcomes and carrying out regular review in conjunction with children, young people and their families and other professionals.
– Supporting children and young people in their personal care, administration of medication and clinical procedures in line with Action for Children's policy and procedures and regulatory requirements.
– Building and maintaining professional positive working relationships by providing emotional and social support to children and young people who can display challenging emotional and social difficulties.
– Giving families the break, they need to continue supporting their children.
– Assisting the children in all aspects of their care and supporting their health and wellbeing.
You will need:
– NVQ Level 3 Social Care pathway or willingness to undertake the Diploma within the first 2 years.
– The ability to work well as part of a team.
– Some previous professional or personal experience of working with disabled children or adults (familiarity with autism, ADHD, complex needs like epilepsy is desirable).
– Excellent communication skills.
– To be caring and compassionate.
– Safeguarding knowledge (desirable).
– The flexibility in working patterns for the needs of the service.
