As an EHO you will be competent in all aspects of Environmental Health (Food Safety, Health and Safety and Public Health). You will also be responsible for consultation replies to Planning, Licencing and Building Control.
You may take the lead role in undertaking complex investigations and prosecutions and undertake the regulatory interventions in all priorities of business premises as necessary.

1. The post reports to a Principal Environmental Health Officer.
2. There are no direct reports to this post holder.
Detailed Responsibilities
1. Personal Responsibilities
a. To execute a personal caseload across the range of environmental health disciplines of the Shared Service to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with Council policies, procedures and performance indicators including:
1. The inspection of all food businesses according to the risk they pose to consumers
2. The sampling of foodstuffs and other Public Health and Safety samples
3. The investigation of notifiable diseases
4. The administration and maintenance of the National food hygiene rating system in accordance with policies and procedures
5. The targeted inspection of all workplaces and work related activities according to the risk they pose to employees and members of the public
6. Undertake topic based initiatives and campaigns inspections and promotional campaigns in relation to food and health and safety
7. Carrying out visits to assess risks with regard to food safety and health and safety
8. The investigation of all serious accidents and dangerous occurrences using HSE guidance
9. To identify and respond to major food safety, health & safety and other public health issues which could affect members of the public and businesses
10. Evaluate new businesses and put in place a scheme for risk assessment
11. Ensuring the Council’s website is kept up to date with relevant information as assigned
12. Respond to enquiries and complaints about Covid-19 related issue

Please note this is a contracted position of 3-6 months with the possibility of extension depending on budgets and performance
