Mechanical Design Engineer – Contract

 
This creative role will work on projects from concept to production for a company who design and manufacture a range of complex special purpose machinery used in a multitude of industries worldwide.  The company can offer the benefits of working for a global brand with the feel and freedom of a smaller organisation where integrity and innovation is at the heart of all activity.

This contract role is for an experienced and capable mechanical design engineer who will join the Mechanical Engineering team to support the implementation of design changes.

The projects that you will work on will range from completely new ideas to refining existing designs with a focus on cost and reliability. Manufacturing and assembly is done on site so you will need to be comfortable supporting other departments to improve design and manufacturing processes for the future.

Some of the key skills we are looking for are:

Ideally experience of using SolidWorks or a similar 3D CAD package.
Proficient in modelling, drawing & BOM control
Knowledge & experience of applying BS8888 Drawing Standards.
Knowledge & experience of applying geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
Configuration control
Desirable

Experienced in working with precision instrumentation
Experienced in working with Special Purpose Machinery
Knowledge of different manufacturing techniques and DFM
