Senior Ecologist – Aylesbury
My clients are a leading sustainability consultancy combining energy, climate change, environmental, and chemical risk expertise with strong IT and economic capability. Their ecology team is looking to reinforce and grow our dynamic and experienced team as they look to support clients entering periods of significant investment in environmental services. They are currently looking for an experienced Senior Ecologist to join their team based near Aylesbury.
During your time in this role:
This opportunity offers a diverse role, you will be supporting projects and clients across the UK and occasionally beyond. Whilst also carrying out projects encompassing both biodiversity and protected species focus. Your role will involve project management and implementation of ecological assessments, plus the coordination of associated surveys, consultation, and mitigation in support of our clients' proposals and operations. You will be involved in managing the technical work of more junior staff and sub-consultants. There is also a degree of flexibility over which facets of the role you become most invested in: be it a more technical focus; project management; developing bids and tenders; or, a more generalist role.
To be successful in this position you will need:
A degree in a relevant subject, such as ecology or other biological sciences
A good understanding of UK wildlife legislation and the planning process
Excellent report writing skills
Membership of CIEEM
Broad ecological survey experience with demonstrable proficiency in particular protected species surveys and/or habitat surveys and providing mitigation recommendations
At least one protected species survey license (not including GCN)
It will also be desirable if you have:
Multiple protected species survey licenses (ideally in both England and Wales)
Experience in applying for and holding licenses for protected species mitigation/conservation
A track record of successful project management
Experience in the preparation of ecology proposals and tenders
