Assistant Design Engineer

Permanent, Full Time

Salary: £32,000 – £38,000 depending on experience

Location: Griffin Lane, Aylesbury, HP19 8BP

This is an fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Design Engineer to take on further responsibility within a large highway design team in Aylesbury. You would be responsible for the design and delivery of Highways Improvement schemes to programme, quality and budget. Projects will cover a wide range of traffic engineering / highways improvement schemes beginning with concept continuing through Feasibility, Detail Design, production of Works Information, site Information and Pre-Construction Information Packs. The successful candidate will possess a high level of technical competence in Highways Design, have the ability to work on their own initiative and be able to deliver a number of schemes keeping to deadlines.

Highway schemes to include: Public Realm improvements, carriageway and footway repairs and reconstruction, drainage, vehicle restraint systems, temporary works, Traffic management, road markings and signs.

The successful candidate will have:

Minimum of 3 years' experience within highway design
Degree in Civil Engineering or related subject
Knowledge of design procedures, standards and good practice documents
Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation including Construction (Design & Management) Regulations
Conversant with MS Office packages and expert use of AUTOCAD
UK – Driving licence You would be responsible for:

Designing a range of traffic engineering / highways design schemes
Assisting with the preparation of drawings, reports and calculations for projects
Assisting with the management and monitoring of works programmes or services
Providing speedy and courteous responses to queries and complaints
Attending progress meetings, public exhibitions and public inquiries
Attending site for site surveys
