This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an experienced HSE professional with a proven track record of supporting and developing the HSE focus within the construction, infrastructure, rail or civil engineering sectors.
Our client is one of the UK’s largest heavy and specialist civil engineering contractors, renowned for providing technically advanced and cost-effective solutions. Their reputation is built on engineering excellence and a commitment to continual innovation, backed by a central technical design and engineering resource.
Due to continued company growth and the recent award of a number of significant HS2 works packages, our client now has an exciting opportunity for an HSE Advisor to join the business and be based out of their Aylesbury Office.
The position will provide comprehensive advice and support in the maintenance and improvement of HSEQ compliance on company premises and operational sites across the UK. The successful candidate will have experience within a construction, infrastructure, rail or civil engineering environment.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Leadership Teams in setting the quality strategy each year and monitor progress against the agreed objectives and targets
* Provide competent advice and guidance on statutory and procedural HSEQ compliance
* To undertake site inspections and internal audits across the UK, produce reports in a timely manner with recommendations for improvement and ensure delivery of identified improvement actions.
* To ensure that an effective customer focused Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Service is provided to each division and department
* In liaison with operational leads, develop HSEQ improvement plans that complement those at both Group and Divisional levels. These should include specific Key Performance Areas/Indicators and responsibilities and accountabilities for tasks and governance
* To undertake site inspections and internal audits across the UK, produce reports in a timely manner with recommendations for improvement and ensure delivery of identified improvement actions.
* To assist in the identification of competency gaps across the organisation with regard to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality.
* To provide tender and project management Health, Safety, Environment and Quality support to the divisions.
* To provide support and advice to personnel relating to the prevention of accidents, damage to plant and equipment, fire, the environment and quality control.
* Conduct investigations into major incidents using an appropriate methodology
* To assist in the identification of competency gaps across the organisation with regard to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality.
* To provide tender and project management Health, Safety, Environment and Quality support to the divisions.
* To provide support and advice to personnel relating to the prevention of accidents, damage to plant and equipment, fire, the environment and quality control.
* Lead by demonstrating the required behaviours, attitudes and mind-set to further develop a strong corporate safety culture
Requirements:
* Experience gained in HSEQ advisory position within the construction, infrastructure, rail or civil engineering sectors
* Related post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience related to HSE
* IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
* A working knowledge of business processes and an ability to identify areas of improvement
* Be self-motivating, enthusiastic and positive
* Resilience and patience – able to deal with a wide variety of people, whilst determined to carry things through to completion
* Excellent communicator – able to influence internal and external stakeholders
* IT literate, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
* Full driving licence
