H & S Advisor – HS2
Location – Aylesbury
Salary – £40,000 – £45,000 plus £12,000 tax free lodge allowance, 5% company pension, 10% salary yearly bonus, £5,000 car allowance.
My Client is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to provide effective guidance and support to the site delivery team on a major earthmoving contract. This new role which is site based is deemed an integral position of ensuring the successful delivery of the project.
The role will be to provide effective HSE support and guidance to the site team to ensure a safe working environment without risk to health and continuously promote a positive safety culture.
The HSE Advisor will ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and environmental management In so doing, the postholder will be instrumental in achieving the Company’s mission statement in accordance with the Company’s values which are:

Accountability:
Key activities and responsibilities of the role
• Provide effective health, safety and environmental support and guidance to our site team to ensure a safe working environment without risk to health, safety, or harm to the environment.
• Continually promote high standards of health, safety and environmental management and drive continuous improvement.
• Conduct regular HSE site tours and inspections ensuring personnel are working in accordance with the Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan and Method Statements and Risk Assessments
• Conduct incident investigations and associated reports
• Identify and report performance trends
• Build positive relationships with all levels of the workforce
• Work in close collaboration with the clients SHE team ensuring set HSE standards and goals are met
• Conduct ad hoc HSE training
• Chair regular HSE Meetings
• Conduct Site Inductions
• Closely support the HSE Administrator
• Maintain the Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan
• Review and maintain general project HSE documentation
• Compile and circulate topical toolbox talks and health, safety and environmental alerts
• Produce monthly HSE reports for the Company Health & Safety Manager
• Establish and maintain a team programme of documented health & safety inspections and site tours, ensuring engagement at all levels
• Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the site delivery team
• Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management • from time to time.
Key competencies:
Qualifications, experience, and behaviours required
Essential:
• Experience in the delivery of Health & Safety services and will have a background in
construction/building industry.
• Experience on bulk earthworks would be particularly desirable.
• You will hold a NEBOSH Construction Certificate or above qualification and have a strong understanding of the CDM regulations
• You will have construction and major civil engineering experience obtained from a previously held site-based role
• Experience reviewing site health, safety and environmental documentation
• Excellent working knowledge and understanding of current Health and Safety Legislation
• Confident and organised
• Good spoken and written communication skills
• Ability to work under constraint
Desirable:
• Sound knowledge of current HSE Legislation
• Operational experience of ensuring compliance with: ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and
OHSAS 18001:2007/ISO 45001
• Auditing & Inspection skills
• Incident investigation and reporting
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Effective interpersonal skills and relationship building
