Lunch Time / Catering Staff

Catering assistance is to help in the kitchen as much as they can, with preparing food, cleaning, checking stock, accepting deliveries and serving food.

Supply Desk are currently looking for a catering assistant for a fantatsic secondary school in Aylesbury

The school provides hot food for about 20 lunches at (1.15pm)  and 40 meals at breaks (11am) spread across mainly students but some staff.

The break food is usually a mixture of bacon rolls, limited toasties, sausage rolls and similar bought in items, fresh rolls/sandwiches made to prior order

Lunch over the week is a lot of chips, chicken nuggets, mini pizza, burgers but for the Free School Meals students a few more beneficial meals must be available so that might be a jacket potatoes with chilli, curry, beans or a chicken casserole with carrots mushrooms etc, roast chicken breast with veg, but separate catering for staff. Likewise talking to the students and providing practical alternatives (that's better nutrition).

The kitchen has just been awarded 5 Stars by the EHO 

The actual hours are likely to be 9.30am, so an hour half before break until probably 2.30pm when everything is cleared away,  but the school would pay for the day. 

Non cooking tasks are keeping the dining room tables wiped down, the kitchen spotless and food ordered in from suppliers, manual catering H&S records kept  etc, cleaning up.  The school uses a lot of disposable cutlery/plates, but some washing up is necessary.

So the person isn't going to be a full on chef, but they must be able to cook and be fully conversant with what is required to run a small commercial kitchen. It is only them, no other staff are available.  The person can/will need to use their own initiative, be a self manager and someone we can trust to get things done correctly.
