The UK’s leading Architectural Glazing Company, IQ Glass is currently seeking a CAD Design Team Manager to join their expanding team of 12 designers based at our Amersham office.
IQ Glass are the UK’s leader in high specification architectural glazing products and systems. Based in exciting premises in Amersham, Bucks, IQ Glass boast the largest residential glazing showroom in the UK, where architects, clients and designers come to learn about and view IQ’s impressive glazing applications. CAD Design Team Manager
You will be responsible for fully managing the in-house and external designers who will prepare detailed drawings to the client’s clear design brief, from the initial design stage through to drawing approval, fabrication, & the construction issue drawings. Our design administration team will assist you to manage the flow of work through the department. You will also be a key person in assisting our R&D team with the development of the designs for our exciting new products.
You should be an experienced draughtsperson who must have 2D AutoCAD LT skills. You must have a proven background in design office management. A background in the window or glazing industry would be an advantage but is not essential.
The role will require the successful candidate to have the following skills & experience:
* You must have excellent communication and organisational skills to deal with your colleagues, clients, and the associated professional trades, with the ability to read and analyse architects detailed drawings.
* You must have a full working knowledge and fluency of AutoCAD and a demonstrable knowledge of UK construction industry methods.
* Be able to produce detailed CAD drawings presented in a high quality format for our glazing projects, with a high level of accuracy, attention to key detailing, and have the ability to adhere to the IQ design procedures.
* You must be able to manage a busy department and deal with all aspects of the staff workload monitoring to ensure that the key project design stage dates are achieved.
* Microsoft Office skills (Basic), SketchUp or 3D (desirable but not essential). We operate a variety of CRM systems to assist with the management role for which full in-house training will be provided.
* The ability to develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of glass and associated systems and products and assist with the knowledge development of the design team members.
* Maintain and update a fully detailed system of standard drawings and products.
* Be able to review the existing IQ procedures with a view to making improvements to the efficiency of the systems and procedures.
* You will be reporting to the Director overseeing the design department.
* You must live be within easy commuting distance of the Amersham area (45mins) and comply with the UK working requirements.

Salary: Competitive for this senior role
