Are you a Shunter seeking a new opportunity? Currently seeking a shunter on a Permanent basis to join a growing rail business based in Bletchley.
As a Shunter you will be working on a varied shift pattern and will be offered a competitive base salary plus a shift allowance. You will also get company benefits such free rail travel and a company pension scheme.
As a Shunter you will ensure that all shunting and CET activities are carried in accordance with the appropriate instructions and specifications in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
As a Shunter your role will include various tasks such as:
Liaise with relevant persons in charge and signal box for control of movements as defined in the Depot Operating Procedures
Marshall, and authorise coupling/uncoupling of units as required.
Record the number and position of units as appropriate and keep the Status Board current.
Control and reporting of the arrival and departure of trains to depot and liaise with relevant staff.
Notification of apparent defects (e.g., including interior condition, facility, infrastructure) via appropriate reporting system.
Maintain and compile records & logs (e.g., shunting paperwork, daily/weekly information).
Winterisation of hand points around the sidings and assist around the depot as required (Noting that shunting takes precedence over all other activities)
General housekeeping of facilities and areas within operating department – only yard.
Other operational duties (e.g., planned audits, checks, infrastructure inspections).
Control of appropriate depot systems in accordance with the Depot Protection procedures (e.g., Hand operated Stop boards on roads to depot).
