Our client is Europe’s leading automotive lighting designer and manufacturer for the luxury and supercar markets. They supply headlamps and rear lamps for many of the world’s most iconic car brands. The organisation has grown significantly in recent years and was sold to a large Chinese corporation at the end of 2019. The parent company have a strong desire to invest significantly and continue to grow their share of the European and North American automotive lighting markets. Our client is focussed on its transformation to be a world-class manufacturer and as such wants to attract the best individuals who have the drive and commitment to contribute to the positive change of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
For the following activities it is expected that the NPI Process Engineer is responsible for continually reviewing and improving process to deliver manufacturing techniques for high level of efficiency, delivery, and quality standards.
* Process methods for continuous improvement for QCD.
* Management of process documentation including PFMEA and Control Plans.
* Develop and support processes for new products and NEW product introduction.
* Cost down in method, tools, and materials.
* Support Quality engineering in defect investigation and deliver root cause resolution.
* Lead CI teams in all manufacturing aspects.
For the following activities it is expected that the NPI Process Engineer supports the project team to meet the Phase Exit milestones.
* Manage Project Documentation.
* Design for Manufacture activities throughout the project phase.
* RFQ creation through to fixtures concept realization.
* BOM, route, SAP understanding.
* DFMEA input and phase reviews.
* Individual part reviews to feed into the CTS (Tooling documentation).
* Support project development activities and work alongside the NPI Launch Coordinator.
* Support and lead where necessary Pre- Series builds.
* Support Manufacturing until Phase 7 is closed (Project Closed).
All of the above activities are to be carried out whilst adhering to the organisations Health and Safety, Environmental and 5S policies.
Experience & Qualifications
* At least 5 years’ experience in an assembly engineering role.
* Proven track record of manufacturing method improvements in assembly.
* Six sigma background. Black belt preferable but not essential.
* Strong “Can do” attitude.
* Good communication skills and ability to lead a team through improvement activities.
