We're looking for a Junior Research Scientist to join our talented R&D team. The role is an integral part of the Medik8 research function and it will be based in our brand new innovation centre in Aylesbury working with our innovation team and reporting to the Lead Product Manager.

You will have an analytical mindset, have a problem solving attitude with high quality of attention to detail and well as being a clear and capable communicator.

As a Junior Research Scientist at Medik8, you will be driving innovations and new research on the most exciting ingredients in skincare (vitamin C, sunscreen and vitamin A) as well as developing methods to enhance their efficacy, stability and penetration into the skin within skincare products.

You will be pushing skincare boundaries and supporting fresh, exciting new product development with a fast paced, knowledgeable and passionate R&D team. You will drive innovative new skin-specific research to further our understanding of skin biochemistry and interactions with skincare and support patent development for new product technologies and innovations to capture the attention of the science-based skincare industry.

Acting as a champion of innovation; you will be constantly looking for new, fresh ways to drive cutting edge research to keep Medik8 leading the market.

Key responsibilities will include:

* Contributes to the most technically advanced research to steer new product innovation, including assessing new ingredients & technologies.

* Supports claim substantiation & formulation validation to drive product innovation via in house research or collaboration with external testing houses.

* Drives research & innovation within CSA to cement us as leaders in CSA.

* Completes in depth literature reviews into key technologies to identify potential for innovation & establish science-led brand positions.

* Monitors competitor products and technologies, to spot research opportunities & competitive advantages.

The successful candidate will:

* Have a Masters/PHD in Biology or Biochemistry or Chemistry with some understanding of Biology

* Have knowledge of skin biology and keen interest in skincare

* Have strong research skills and experience in experimental design & protocol development (knowledge of analytical techniques and ex vivo skin analysis a plus)

* Personable team player with strong communication skills

* Have an analytical mindset with a problem solving attitude & excellent attention to detail

* Have the ability to multitask and work under pressure
