Shopfloor Supervisor

£33,000 – £37,500 per annum
Company Profile
A specialist manufacturer, established for nearly 20 years providing full, turnkey manufacturing solutions of machined, fabricated and finished parts and components for a wide and varied client base across various industry sectors, are currently looking for an experienced Shopfloor Supervisor to join the Operational Management Team and play a key role in assisting the transition of the business to the next planned steps of grow.
Duties:
* Management of workflow through the manufacturing processes ensuring resource requirements are matched to throughput based on planning forecasts generated from the ERP system and ensuring OTIF delivery performance to our customers, to an agreed level.
* Motivating, mentoring and training of production shopfloor staff.
* Monitoring of shopfloor personnel’s performance.
* Assisting in the development of production techniques and methodologies.
* Achieving target levels of safety, quality, efficiency and continuous improvement.
* Managing key bottlenecks in manufacturing.
* Identifying opportunities to improve productivity on site.
* Ensuring levels of shopfloor staff absence are managed in line with company policy.
* Encouragement of the workforce to suggest improvements by assisting the operational management team in implementing continuous improvement programs.
* Maintaining reporting KPI data to senior management.
Skills and Experience:
* Experience of working in a sub-con engineering environment is essential as either an experienced laser programmer/Operator, qualified and experienced CNC Miller/Turner with the ability to program, a qualified and experienced Tig/Mig Welder with knowledge of coding’s, or an experienced Press Brake setter operator with the ability to program on controls or offline.
* Experience working as an Engineering Shopfloor Supervisor or Team Leader with the ability to lead and develop the team.
* Level-headed, process driven with a good attitude and an improvement mindset.
* Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong appreciation for continuous/business improvement, with previous experience carrying out and driving continuous improvement projects.
* Previous experience of using ERP, MRP systems would be desirable but not essential.
* Production apprenticeship in an Engineering related subject or equivalent would be desirable but not essential.
Hours of Work:
* 40hrs per week
* 8am to 5pm, Monday to Thurs, 8am to 2:30pm, Friday.
* £16.00 to £18.00p/hr, depending on experience
