SF Recruitment are working with a successful and growing retail business based in the Birmingham area in the recruitment of a General Ledger Accountant. Reporting into the Financial Controller you will have responsibility for month end journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and accuracy of financial statements. Ideally suited to a part-qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA).

– Preparation of month end journals including accruals and prepayments followed by balance sheet reconciliations to support the wider finance team.
– Monthly P&L analysis to budget, identifying and justifying material variances
– Utilities accounting, analysis and process improvements.
– Support fixed asset accounting and reconciliations.
– Support stock reconciliation and variance analysis.
– Periodic VAT returns and reconciliations.
– Involvement in year-end audit requests and liaising with auditors. Proactively collating information through the year to ease pressures at year end.
– Identifying and promoting best practice and communicating where process improvements can be made, both within the role and across the wider team.
– Any other tasks deemed necessary as the role and business develops.
