Project Planning Manager–Primavera P6 – Aerospace/Defence/Engineering
Our client is a highly successful company, they are pioneering new technologies within Aerospace, Defence & Communication sectors
They are looking for a Project Planning Manager with previous experience in implementing Primavera enterprise into a complex project business and who can provide strong leadership to developing the company’s planning and controlling culture
As a project planning manager, you will be a key member in their team, responsible for implementing an enterprise solution into the company, developing common methodologies and controls to guide projects and programmes to successful completion. You will be able to establish and maintain a strong rapport internally as well as with clients, contractors and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have excellent and demonstrable Leadership, communication and time management skills as well as a strong will to get things done.
Requirements – Project Planning Manager:
* Relevant degree within a technical, business or Project Management field.
* Experience either as a planning manager or a senior planner looking for the next step
* At least 3-5 years’ experience planning major projects within a technical environment
* Experience of managing large programmes or change into business
* Planning for engineering programs
* Engineer status- preferable
* APM qualification
* Expert in the use of Primavera Enterprise planning tools, Primavera P6 and methodologies
* Experience in implementing and developing planning through an organisation
* Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills
* Ability to present technical and complex information clearly and concisely at a level appropriate to the target audience
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and time constraints in a fast paced, rapidly evolving environment
* Experience managing and influencing internal and client interfaces
* Strong commercial and contractual awareness
* BPSS clearance
* SC Clearance (or ability to achieve SC clearance)
* PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification
* Planning, monitoring & control qualifications
* Experience planning CAT 2 & 3 Projects
* Military/defence experience is preferable
Responsibilities – Project Planning Manager:
* Lead on planning activity and develop schedules aligned with the company’s internal governance process whilst developing best practice in planning and reporting
* Provide expert advice on planning for team members and project community
* Challenge and test project assumptions to ensure that plans are realistic and achievable
* Support the project/programme manager to identify options to optimise delivery through resource smoothing, resource levelling and rescheduling of activities as well as creating “whatif” programmes for consideration
* Ensure clear translation of project requirements, constraints and prerequisites within the programme schedules
* Ensure that stakeholder responsibilities and needs are understood and addressed in reporting arrangements
* Monitor and analyse information, reporting progress, slippage and highlighting areas of risk and opportunity
* Provide expert advice on planning processes throughout the lifecycle of the project
* Provide Earned value reporting for Business units and major programmes
* Develop the planning and controls service offering relevant to business and programme requirements
