Design Engineer – 12 Month Contract (Possibility of extension) – Inside IR35 – Predominantly Remote – ASAP Start

Are you an experienced design engineer looking for a new project with a leading automotive client of ours based in Milton Keynes.

This requirement is mostly remote, however you will be required to be onsite once every 2 weeks.

You will be will be:

-Develop fit-for-purpose concepts for battery products and provides technical advice for RFI/RFQ activities for the technical function
-Run fit-for-purpose battery attribute analysis and apply knowledge & application of analytical tools
-Support cross-program strategic continuity of design
-Support product planning support and provides technical input for future roadmaps and technology development plans
-Understand and employ the fundamentals of mechanical, thermal and electrical battery design
-Apply processes such Engineering Standard Work (ESW), iDFMEA, Failure Incident Review Group (FIRG) and tools such as 7-step problem solving to enable high quality decision making in concept development

You will have the skills and experience in:

– Degree in relevant engineering discipline with a minimum 5 years relevant experience.
– CAD design experience (either with CATIA, Creo, NX etc.)
– Working experience with Battery Systems / Electrification
– Understanding of fundamental design principles & toolsets (DFM, DFA, DFMEA, design in context)
– Familiarity with product design life cycle management (PLM) – particularly in concept development

Skills and experience which would be nice to have are:

– Knowledge of Problem Resolution Techniques (e.g. – 8D, Six Sigma)
– Windchill/Creo PTC experience (training can be provided on specific setup)
