Overview
Pertemps Recruitment on behalf of Buckinghamshire Council has an exciting opportunity for a CPCS Telehandler to join the Recycling & Waste team in Aylesbury (HP20 area). Working collaboratively as part of a wider Waste Transfer Station Team based at the recently redeveloped Pembroke Road Depot, the role holder will assist with co-ordinating the control of all waste transfer in and out of the Waste Transfer Station
About the role
As a CPCS Telehandler you will have a number of responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:
Responsible for ensuring waste handling, vehicle movements and incoming/outgoing deliveries within the depot are carried out in accordance with AVDC operational processes, environmental regulations and Health and Safety best practice.
Assisting and directing the public, customers and contractors. Maintaining site safety and cleanliness at all times. Supporting the Recycling and Waste.
Management Team in the delivery of operational plans and projects, producing service information.
Provides a commercial, customer focused and cost-effective service to internal or external customers.
Jobholders have a responsibility to continuously improve their working methods in order to increase productivity and improve the customer experience and profitability.
New commercial opportunities identified through contact with customers, will be actively pursued. Jobholders provide straightforward technical service and/or advice that supports colleagues in the Council or provide routine technical services and/or advice to customers.
Jobholders will provide a cost effective range of commercial services, specialist advice and guidance to customers based on well understood procedures and processes. Jobholders will need to have a thorough understanding of relevant procedures and processes and how to use relevant documentation, equipment and software packages within a commercial environment.
They will be required to work collaboratively with colleagues in multifunctional teams to improve the service to the customer, using customer insight to help identify service improvements and commercial opportunities.
In addition they will proactively market the benefits of digital and self-service channels to all customers, as well as identifying and pursuing commercial opportunities, if applicable.
The work involves activities and tasks that are specific in nature and objectives.
The work involves record keeping and processing of technical and customer information
There is a requirement for forward planning – the normal focus is on days and weeks ahead and the jobholder is required to organise their own workload.This is a temporary position with the chance to become permanent. The pay rate is £11.34 per hour, and you will be working full time, 37 hours per week. There is also the possibility of overtime on Saturdays
The Aylesbury site is conveniently situated near the town centre (HP20 area) with great transport links including a local train station and excellent road connections to the M25, M1, M4 and M40
About you
Good knowledge of Depot Management and environmental and health and safety obligations.
Knowledge of health and Safety legislation, good practise and operational application
Full driving licence with the ability to obtain licence to drive JCB and Forklift, & HGV licence.
Strong analytical skills; gathering operational & industry information & making well-reasoned judgements
Ability to effectively use a range of equipment and technology to support operational and management processes.
