About the role
Part of a well-established and successful team, the Supported Housing Officer role is based at Welwyn Hatfield Foyer. The Foyer provides temporary supported accommodation for young single people between the ages of 16-25. As a Supported Housing Officer you will develop a targeted support plan for each young person you work with, focusing on all aspects of independent living skills and personal development. You will provide coaching, targeted learning opportunities and run Foyer community events and ensure all aspects of housing licence management are met. Given the nature of the role, you'll work with us on a rota between 9am and 9pm with on call duties outside of office hours one week in four. Occasional weekend working is also required. Please note that this role is subject to DBS check due to the nature of our work.
About you
We are looking for an experienced supported housing officer and true team player with the skills to motivate young people and provide the support required to allow young residents to thrive and unlock their full potential. We’re looking for a supported housing expert with experience in, and a passion for, supporting and motivating vulnerable young people. You will have a positive outlook, be able to problem solve and negotiate as well as the ability to believe in, empower and empathise with young people whilst treating them with respect and honesty. Strong communication skills are essential, as is the confidence to deal with challenging situations involving vulnerable young people. We would value strong working knowledge and experience of working with LA benefit agencies and benefit eligibility. A relevant qualification in support or working with young people is preferred.
