Buyer- required for our client to assist on a Joint Venture for the Geotechnical works on HS2. The Buyer will be working for a well-known company within the industry and be given expert training and development working alongside the established growing Purchasing and Logistics team.

The Buyer will have some knowledge of procurement or experience within a similar role within the construction sector. The buyer will be ensuring arrangements are in place to transport rigs and site equipment to site as well as acquire quotes and negotiate prices for goods and services whilst running comparisons, and negotiate on price ethically and appropriately.

Buyer Position Overview

Assist in the day to day operations of the Central Procurement department
Acquire quotes and negotiate prices for goods and services and support Estimators with acquiring quotes, and offering supplier and material recommendations.
Provision of goods and services within budget on each project and manage invoices
Maintain a good relationship with client and other departments
Monitor and record supplier performance
Support the Procurement & Logistics function as required
Raise and manage orders
Communicating between site supervisors and suppliers to ensure delivery of goods in a timely manner and within budget on each project
Appraise suppliers, select suppliers from the approved suppliers list, issue enquiries and orders and liaise closely with various key stakeholders
Supporting the procurement and operations teams with tendering, market analysis, supplier selection, risk and opportunity assessments, forecasting requirements

Buyer Position Requirements

Working towards CIPS level 4 qualified
3 years' experience in a Purchasing environment.
Good commercial awareness and be organised by nature
Understanding and up-to-date knowledge of material and plant hire markets, products and suppliers
Previous experience in a construction purchasing environment
Excellent IT skills
Previous experience using SAP

Buyer Position Remuneration

Salary £25K-£30K DOE
26 Days holiday + BH
37 hours per week and overtime paid
