The Vacancy
About the role
Paradigm has already made great strides forward in how well it uses data in the past three years: in the next two years we will deliver the biggest digital transformation programme in our history with data at its heart.
We have an existing heavily-used SQL Server data warehouse but we have the opportunity to create a new, improved one from the new systems we’re setting up as part of the digital transformation. This is an excellent chance for the new Data Warehouse Lead, to bring in their best practice ideas.
We have a pragmatic, business-delivery-focused approach within Business Intelligence – what matters to us is enabling the Exec and Paradigm’s business services to have the actionable insight they need – which may be different to what they ask for.
This role reports to the Head of Business Intelligence. You’ll need to design our new data warehouse – security, schemas, modelling, logging, documentation, semantic layer etc – so it’s fit for Paradigm’s ambitions.
Your role will also involve reading in the data from our new systems and understanding it well enough to build a user-friendly semantic layer for our experts in data visualisation. You’ll also need to help the Business with their data quality via automated dashboards – perhaps reading in and checking against external data sources or reconciling between systems.
About you
We are looking for someone with the ability to enable the generation of actionable insights from Paradigm’s data, someone who has a passion for excellent service with solid, serious experience in data warehousing to join our small friendly team.
Working via a mixture of office and homeworking, you will be helping drive the future of Paradigm by enabling better decision making and more efficient delivery of our essential services.
Experience of data warehousing within a Housing environment is desirable but not essential – your proactive, pragmatic approach to data warehousing is much more important.
As well as deep data warehousing skills – both hands-on technical and design – our ideal candidate has a deep understanding of analysis and reporting and their relationship to business processes plus strong and clear communication skills.
We have a SQL Server data warehouse and Power BI for data visualisation plus we’ll be adding in Civica CX BI Reporting as part of the transformation programme. Knowledge of these would be useful, but what is much more important is a deep understanding of data and how to drive business change with it – success is not enabling a finished dashboard but Paradigm using it to drive change.
We have a comprehensive personal and professional development suite available to all of our employees. So not only is this a great opportunity to join a high performing and specialist team at a time when you can have a real and personal impact on the future success of our business, you can continue to grow and develop yourself, building an exciting/interesting/rewarding career with a growing business.
