11 Plus or Maths & English Tutor
The award-winning 11 Plus Study Centre has taught children with Aylesbury, Milton Keynes, and Rickmansworth centres for over a decade. The children are at the heart of all we do, and we always teach with their best interests at heart – our tagline is ‘nurturing talent’.
We aim not just to teach but also to develop children to love learning, have resilience and prepare them for the next step in their learning journey.
We teach the 11 Plus (GL specification) to children in mixed year-4 and year-5 groups.
Aylesbury – Sundays 8:45 am – 4:15 pm
The Maths & English Tutor role
Are you a passionate, dynamic teacher? We are looking for teachers who can significantly impact children’s learning and motivation. You will deliver a structured programme of tuition to small groups of children.
As a tutor, we expect you to:
* Deliver weekly sessions.
* Inspire self-belief, stimulate and challenge students by providing engaging lessons.
* Provide weekly feedback to the Lead tutor and parents.
* Take part in training, as required.
* Adhere to Safeguarding, Covid safety and other policies.
What we look for in a tutor:
* Passion, creativity and commitment to supporting children through the learning process.
* Inspirational and engaging teaching style to nurture confidence and self-belief.
* Experience teaching maths and English.
* Ability to adapt to different learning styles
* Ability to commit to session times.
Maths & English Tutor Key Requirements, you will:
* Be a UK-based graduate with a degree in maths or English (maths preferred)
* Have Qualified Teacher Status (ideally with a Maths specialism), must be able to teach maths and English at primary level to year 4 and 5 pupils.
* Be working on a self-employed basis.
* Will hold Qualified Teacher Status.
* Have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a UK Primary or Secondary school.
* Be fluent in English.
* Have excellent communication skills to deliver concepts simply and effectively to small groups of children.
* Have tutoring experience (not essential)
* Know about the 11+ exams (not essential, as we will provide full training.
* Live within a reasonable distance to the centre.
Maths & English Tutor Roles and responsibilities include:
* Delivering face-to-face lessons at one of the locations using our provided resources, e.g. worksheets, books etc.) for the GL 11+ exams.
* Assessing pupil progress
* Providing feedback to parents
* Adapt the lessons as needed to ensure effective results.
* Building strong relationships with pupils and parents.
