The role of the Design HSE Engineer is to coordinate all Design HSE activities on projects as Lead Engineer.
Reporting lines and interactions:
Line manager: Engineering Manager
Project reports to: Project Engineering Manager or Project Manager
Directly supervises: Design HSE Engineers
Job scope (budget, management, specific criteria):
Develop the Scope, Budget and Schedule for Design HSE activities on projects in line with contract requirements.
Co-ordinate and progress Design HSE activities required to complete the job.
Develop, check and / or approve discipline deliverables and studies.
Manage Project Changes and provide cost estimate of the change of scope to Project.
Prepare regular progress and status reports as required by client and Project Manager.
Participate in engineering co-ordination and progress review meetings.
Liaise with other disciplines for applicable engineering interfaces.
Liaise with client on project requirements.
Develop and analyse HSE solutions to specific job requirements.
Provide technical bid evaluations input on HSE Studies.
Review and approve all relevant vendor and / or sub-contractor data and deliverables.
Participate HAZID / ENVID / HAZOP / SIL and design review meetings to provide input in regards to HSE.
Provide information for project proposals.Typical background and experience required:
The job holder must have:
Experience in the Oil & Gas, Process Engineering or other industrial settings.
Degree in engineering or equivalent.
Experience in leading projects as technical lead or project lead including:
Participate in Safety, environmental and operability reviews (HAZID, ENVID, HAZOP, SIL)
Fire and Gas detector layout deliverables
Hazardous Area Classification definition
Active and Passive fire-fighting systems definition
Mobile and portable fire-fighting systems definition
Quantitative Risk Assessment and related studies
Emergency Response Plan
Safety related P&ID development, including selection of design conditions, hydraulic analysis, line sizing and pipe specifications, equipment isolation, vent and drain systems, cause and effects.
Good understanding of HSE standards and regulations, industry codes and standards (API, NFPA, IP etc).
Good computer literacy with particular competence in MS office software is essential.Desirable Experience / Qualifications include:
Knowledge and experience on environmental engineering within the Oil & Gas/Petrochemical industry.
Experience on designing segregated effluent collection systems and wastewater treatment technologies
