Our client is an internationally renowned leader in the field of Access Control in the widest sense. On their behalf, we are seeking an engaged & energetic Infrastructure Support Technician to join their Global IT department. You will be working mainly to support their end users and on infrastructure projects. You will be a part of a global organization that is dynamic and fast paced, with many possibilities to make a difference and add value to the business. As part of the global team you will be responsible to provide IT support to our users and working on implementing IT initiatives. You could expect to communicate regularly with colleagues around the world, to share a unified approach on technologies, processes and best practices.
Role Accountabilities
monitor and maintain computer systems and networks
talk staff through a series of actions, either face-to-face, over the phone or IM, to help set up systems or resolve issues
troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults
replace parts as required
provide support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports
follow diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system
support the roll-out of new applications
set up new users' accounts and profiles and deal with password issues
respond within agreed time limits
work continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate)
prioritise and manage many open cases at one time
rapidly establish a good working relationship with customers and other professionals, such as software developers
test and evaluate new technology
logging and processing support calls
installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners
planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance upgrades
setting up accounts for staff, ensuring that they know how to log in
solving password problems
responding to breakdowns
investigating, diagnosing and solving computer software and hardware faults
repairing equipment and replacing parts
obtaining replacement or specialist components, fixtures or fittings
maintaining records of software licences
managing stocks of equipment, consumables and other supplies
What do we need?
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field; and/or at least 1 to 3 years of work experience providing IT support
Antivirus and Backups
Software Support
Experience with user support in a mixed-vendor, mixed OS environment (primarily Windows but limited Mac, iOS and Android)
Windows Server
Office 365 administration and configuration
Active Directory and Group Policies
Microsoft Exchange
Support the office technology platforms, including wireless and wired networks, conference room technology, automation systems, AV streaming technology
Firewalls, Switches and Routers
What we are looking for:
You will have previous experience from working in IT infrastructure, as a support technician or in a user support role and we would probably expect that you have progressed from 1st line to 2nd line support. (possibly 3rd line)
You are used to working and supporting the mainstream Microsoft platforms and have sound knowledge of IT infrastructure and network technologies.
You have experience in the IT service desk and End User Computing.
You are used to, and enjoy, working in a changing environment, have a broad business understanding and have a genuine interest in technology.
A degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or Systems Management is preferred. Since English is our corporate language we expect you to have a high professional knowledge and be able to speak, read and write freely when interacting with your international colleagues.
The role is office based and may require travel.
