Once Britain's Best-Kept Secret, Bletchley Park, is a unique heritage site and vibrant tourist attraction and is now seeking a Media and Publications Manager based in Bletchley, Milton Keynes to join its team on a Maternity Cover contract lasting up to 12-months. You will receive a company pension scheme, BUPA health cash plan scheme and holiday pro rata 33 days pa including statutory holidays.
You will be creating positive coverage and managing Bletchley Park publications in support of its mission to increase visitor numbers and transform the site for future generations to enjoy. The focus for the Communications team in 2022 will be the marketing and media campaigns to support the opening of a major new exhibition in April.
As a Media and Publications Manager at Bletchley Park, you will:
Develop and implement effective campaigns making full use of a wide range of media, including broadcast, print and digital.
Manage the development and production of Bletchley Park publications including ULTRA magazine, exhibition books and the Bletchley Park guidebook.
Communicate effectively and build excellent contacts with journalists, broadcasters, bloggers, online influencers, and publishers at all levels.
Liaise with internal stakeholders to research and develop engaging ways to promote Bletchley Park including exhibitions, events, collections, new acquisitions, and discoveries.
Manage the Digital Engagement Officer who is responsible for social media, digital events, assisting with website content and other tasks to support the Communications team.
Work closely with the Marketing Manager and Designer to support and deliver wider communications e.g., website content, proofreading copy, Enewsletters etc.
Handle and respond to enquiries for filming and editorial opportunities.
Plan, implement and manage events and launches.
Liaise with sponsors, third party supporters and promotional parties developing and implementing specific initiatives in support of objectives.
Develop Bletchley Park’s photographic, video and audio library, including licensing, and access online.
Attend evening and weekend functions and/or events as required.
Act as out-of-hours contact as required.
Manage projects efficiently to budget and deadline.
Develop reactive statements as required.
Monitor and report presence and coverage.
Liaise effectively with internal departments to ensure smooth running and management of photography and filming on-site in order to minimise impact on visitor experience.
Be committed to health and safety and ensure familiarity with all of the site’s health and safety policies and procedures.
Promote equality and diversity in all aspects of your work by developing and maintaining positive working relationships, ensuring that colleagues are treated fairly and with respect/dignity.
Be security conscious, ensure familiarity and co-operation with all Bletchley Park security procedures.
At Bletchley Park we are are looking for a Media and Publications Manager who has the following skills and experiences:
Extensive experience of media relations work in a similar field with proven achievement.
Experience of project managing publications and or editorial.
Familiar with the workings of the media (including online) with a range of contacts.
Experience of dealing with print, digital and broadcast.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to be confident, patient and articulate when communicating at all levels, particularly with members of the public and journalists.
Strong IT skills with competency in Microsoft Office.
High level of written and verbal presentation skills.
Ability to develop effective relationships with a wide range of people.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and to work accurately to tight deadlines.
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
You will typically be working Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00 although hours may vary from time to time to meet business demands.
