The role
A renowned property consultancy specialising in management of commercial space, are looking to recruit an Associate Building Surveyor to join their dedicated building surveying division.
You will be taking on a position in the Milton Keynes office which is the company's hub for clients in the North London and surrounding home counties such as Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and your role will consist of three key focuses: Work delivery, business development, and Team Management.
Business development – You will be responsible or maintaining and developing business streams and client relationships as well as exploring new focus areas, including specific services, client bases, and property types, in order to grow the building consultancy division across the region.
Team Management – As an Associate Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for the day to day operations of the core building surveying team, delegating instructions and clients, reviewing and signing off reports and survey work, mentoring and providing support to junior building surveyors as they progress through their APC pathways, and monitoring productivity / performance to ensure the best outcomes.
Delivery of work – You will be responsible for your own clients and work pipeline, and will deliver a range of services to both retained and new clients across commercial properties, including offices,
retail and industrial, as well as an increasing pipeline of student accommodation, hotels, and build to rent properties.
You will be carrying out the following instructions:
Schedules of Dilapidations (usually acting for the landlord)
Pre-acquisition surveys & due diligence including development monitoring
Party wall awards, defect diagnosis and planned preventative maintenance reports
Fire insurance valuations, disability audits, and schedules of condition reports.
Contract Administration, principal design and project management on Contracts from £10K – £30m.
The rewards
This position offers an truly competitive remuneration for a regional position and has a salary bench-marked at £65,000 per annum + a car allowance in the region of £6,000 in addition. Higher salaries will be considered for those coming from higher salary roles and will be assessed on an individual basis. The benefits and rewards for this role are detailed below:

The requirements
As an Associate Building Surveyor you will need to meet certain criteria for this role. Along with strong technical building surveying skills as noted above, you will need the following skills and experience:
RICS qualified Chartered Surveyor
Ideally 2-5 years of experience at Senior Building Surveyor level or higher
Excellent communication skills with gravitas amongst clients
Team supervisory experience
Positive attitude, effective time management skills and ability of manage own work load within required deadlines
