TLTP are looking for Learning Support Assistants who may be seeking a permanent contract to start as soon as possible but by the beginning of January in a specialist secondary school for students with Severe Learning Difficulties and Complex Needs.
You will be working in an independent residential special school for children and young people aged 10-19 with SLD, ASD and complex needs.
Students here may need support with personal care (some are double incontinent), many display behaviours of concern linked to their sensory, emotional or communication needs.
Many are non-verbal.
All have significant communication delay.
All are supported 1:1 with some supported 2:1 offsite and a few 2:1 at all times.
they have their own curriculum based around developing communication, independence and self-regulation skills, alongside creativity, outdoor learning, wellbeing and work experience.
Students work towards accreditation through ASDAN and the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.
The school day is from 9-3 but the working day is from 8-4.15 (4.45 on Wednesdays for team meetings). They operate a 40 week academic year, plus 5 INSET days which all staff attend, making a total of 41 working weeks. They currently have 6 classes of 5 students.
