Infrastructure Specialist – Buckingham- £50,000 – £65,000
My Clients Core Technology Team are looking for a Infrastructure Specialist who has the passion and determination to work across a broad cross-section of disciplines and technologies. Working collaboratively with team members you will help to simplify and improve the platforms and services that underpin the storage and virtualisation requirements of the team. You will thrive on working in a fast paced and ever-changing digital environment and in a role where you get to create innovative solutions across a vast portfolio of technologies. Key Accountabilities of this role include:
Key Accountabilities
Being the SME / technical lead for Storage and virtualisation services and infrastructure, owning the current and future state and providing secure, high performing, scalable services to the business (Enterprise SAN, VMWare clusters and workloads, PaaS/IaaS, Hybrid Cloud).
Working with business areas to gather, understand, and document data requirements and provide appropriate capacity planning and life-cycle management.
Undertaking operational activities to keep platforms operating at their best and aligned with industry best practice (monitoring, alerting, reporting, security, updates, standards).
Ensuring data protection, continuity, and compliance through appropriate backup and retention mechanisms.
Providing support to others in IT and the wider organisation as an escalation point and including out-of-hours support for critical issues as needed.Technical Skills and Experience
Significant experience of implementing and managing enterprise SAN storage platforms and architectures, arrays, tiers, archiving (e.g. PURE, HPE etc.), and alternatives (Cloud / PaaS/SaaS).
Significant experience of implementing and managing VMWare ESXi platforms (to VCAP/VCIX level) and underlying host infrastructure (e.g. Cisco UCS, HPE Synergy etc.).
Detailed experience of the latest versions of Windows Server OS (MCSA/E Core Infrastructure level) and related workloads.
Linux/non-Windows client and server file systems, protocols, technology stacks and related workloads (NFS etc.).
Backup solutions (e.g. Rubrik, Cloudian, etc.).
PowerShell, Ansible, or similar tools to implement and manage the above.
Ideally, Linux OS and system administration.
Ideally, experience with containerisation and Open-Source platform alternatives (Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack, GIT etc.).
Ideally, experience with multi-tenant / customer models of providing shared services.Benefits
