EMEA Product Development Manager Technology Platforms – Dry will lead a team primarily responsible for new product & process implementation/ scale up into manufacturing plants in EMEA. The role includes indirect reports in the EMEA region. It will also focus on margin & de-risking projects in both consumer & flavor solutions.
The team works cross-functionally between Continuous Cost Improvement, Procurement, New Product Development, Quality and Manufacturing Team with responsible for product functionality through the development phase leading to commercialisation and scale up process launching of seasonings into Haddenham and Dubai factories, working with operations and quality for successful implementation and RFT.
This position has responsibility for applications technology and management of the technicians to effectively deliver high quality samples to the growth teams.
The team supports the EMEA dry sites on all functionality testing, and seasoning design, trouble shooting and validations. In addition to this, the Manager is a key part of new equipment and site validations, working closely with QA, Engineering and Operations for successful implementation. The team also supports sites outside of the region, which includes APZ.
The regional role is to ensure consistency of ways of working and processes across the EMEA region linking in with global and other McCormick regions. The EMEA function is a key part of global strategy to grow the technology platforms function within McCormick and align ways of working and best practice.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
* Ensure that EMEA teams are following processes for PPI, CCI and applications technology across the region, supporting and advising as necessary providing training and implementing processes where needed. Regular review to ensure that processes are being followed consistently and make improvements to streamline the function to perform effectively.
* Process amendments & factory Scale up – Ensure that site teams are following due process for trials and FTO. This includes earlier steps in the process such as code set up (NPC & CS), functionality sign-off, labels, liaising with cross-functional departments and gold standard programme for RFT production. Responsible for improvement of the gold standard programme.
* Functionality testing of raw materials.
* Trouble shooting both in -house & for customers.
* Ensure that the laboratory is set up with required equipment to analyse samples to ensure RFT trial or production (FTO). Understand the equipment needed to support EMEA and other McCormick regions.
* Margin, de-risking & CCI programmes – look at building a 3-year innovation pipeline for margin programmes through product tear downs, end to end analysis & project deep dives.
* Applications technology – management of the technicians & applications resource. Also having a vision for their training and skill set.
* Ensure that pilot plant delivers the expectations of internal and external customers for on time seasoning delivery.
* Support for site, process and equipment implementation for the manufacturing, quality and engineering (site & project) teams in respect of new process and equipment implementations or changes to processes to ensure that product capability and functionality standards are met. Working with global contacts to ensure that benchmark processes are implemented for equipment, site and product to learn from experience.
* Ensure that the Gold Standard Programme is implemented and embedded in the EMEA region and working with McCormick Head Office for alignment and improvements.
* Lead the Centre of Excellence for dry with expertise and practical support for EMEA and Global projects or general consultation
CANDIDATE PROFILE
* Masters or Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science/ Technology Chemical Engineering or a similar scientific discipline.
* Process & Ingredient functionality knowledge.
* Communication, can do attitude, diplomacy. Can take calculated risks.
* Six Sigma – an advantage. Knowledge of equipment settings in house and at suppliers.
