Transport Site Lead
Shift: 10:00 – 18:00
Monday to Friday
Looking for a motivated, conscientious and flexible team player to join the Milton Keynes Branch of a leading specialist distributor. Candidates must possess first rate communication skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships. This role involves close liaison with customers and internal departments on a daily basis.
Duties to include:
* Working closely with the National Transport Manager to ensure the transport operation comes within budget
* Day to day reporting requirements
* Lead, coach and develop your team
* Manage roadworthiness of vehicles, servicing, defect reporting, breakdowns, repairs
* Manage all aspects of driver performance, e.g. ensure all disciplinary matters are escalated to the relevant line manager
* Ensure driver and vehicle security at all times
* Ensure all deliveries are routed to maximise efficiency
* Monitor and control of vehicle weight limits
* Manage all aspects of agency staff usage
* Achieve targets for transport department through effective management and planning of resource
* Maintain adequate staffing levels at all times
* Ensure daily checks are carried out on all vehicles in line with Company procedures
* Ensure appropriate documentation and reports are produced in a timely manner
* Delivery of Transport Balance Scorecard metrics
* Demonstrate a high level of customer focus
* Plan, organise and manage the routing of deliveries and collections to meet the requirements of the business and customers
* To actively seek opportunities to reduce cost and improve overall performance and service to the customers.
Criteria required:
Proven supervisory skills are essential – minimum 1 years’ relevant experience
Knowledge of transport legislation
Knowledge of GDPR legislation
Experience of Route Optimisation software
Strong national geographical knowledge
Effective communication skills
Excel-medium level preferred
Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
Awareness of company products
Strong decision making skills
Ability to work under pressure
Time Management and organisational skills
