Role: Managing Quantity Surveyor

Salary: up to £70,000 + company car or car allowance
“A Fantastic opportunity for a Managing Quantity Surveyor looking to build a commercial team from scratch with one of the UK’s most successful rail contractors!”
Role Description: Working with one of the largest privately owned infrastructure companies in the UK with a rail division that turns-over more than £60million annually. This particular Managing Quantity Surveyor position will be working within the newly formed Major Projects Division on a HS2 scheme based in Buckinghamshire, where you will be the Commercial Lead responsible for initially overseeing 4 new bridge schemes alongside the ever-growing pipeline of work. This role will primarily be based out of the site offices in Buckinghamshire, however there will be occasional travel to the head office in Birmingham for meetings, although once the project kicks off this role will more or less full-time from site. The scheme will run under a traditional NEC form of contract. Initially the role will be very hands on as you will be negotiating terms and setting up subcontract orders as well as materials, and as Commercial Lead, you will be representing the company in internal and external CVR meetings. You will deal with change management in the contract and advise the project teams accordingly in partnership with the Project Manager
Why should you apply? As it is a new scheme within a new division, there currently isn’t a commercial team in place, however, as Managing Quantity Surveyor, one of the most exciting things about this role is that you will be responsible for growing the commercial team from scratch once the project hits construction phase in the new year. Which obviously means that there is a chance to progress to Commercial Manager in the not-so-distant future!
Remuneration: On offer is a competitive salary of up to £70,000 (depending on experience), company car or car allowance, 26 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays, generous pension contribution, private healthcare and more.
Required Experience: To be considered for this Managing Quantity Surveyor opportunity, you must have NEC experience gained with main contractors. Additionally, as you will be building a commercial team, you will need strong leadership skills and enough industry experience to be able to support and mentor others.
