We are currently seeking a Physician Associate to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) at The Huntercombe Hospital Maidenhead located in Taplow, 4 miles from Maidenhead & Slough.
The Huntercombe Hospital Maidenhead is the UKs largest specialist Hospital for inpatient CAMHS, serving NHS funded patients, and these positions present an opportunity to work with a leading team in child and adolescent mental health. We support young people who are experiencing significant mental health difficulties requiring inpatient admission. We have a total of 60 beds across four wards: 2 PICU wards (Psychiatric Intensive Care), one GAU (General Adolescent Unit), and one Specialist Eating Disorder Ward.
At Huntercombe Hospital Maidenhead we offer children and young people with mental health needs an environment where they can recuperate and recover. Set in a 13th century manor house in extensive gardens, we look after children and young people with eating disorders, such as anorexia and bulimia and other complex mental health conditions, such as bipolar disorder and emerging personality disorder.
This opportunity is based on Kennet Ward, an eating disorder unit for young people aged between 12 and 18 years.
Job Purpose
To play a key role in providing medical care and management to young people, and to support the effective functioning of the multidisciplinary team providing high quality patient care, while contributing to wider service developments. The post holder will be supervised by a designated doctor with regular meetings to support on-going development within the role and will attend regular CPD sessions to support on-going development.
Key Accountabilities
• Undertake full psychiatric (and risk) assessments
• Carry out physical assessments and procedures
• Participate in MDT meetings, handovers and other relevant clinical meetings
• Liaise with other services
• Carry caseloads under supervision
• Prepare reports and discharge summaries
• Undertake basic psycho-therapeutic interventions
• Perform service QI and audit activities
• Deliver education of service users and other staff
• Assist the managing consultant by writing letters, chasing referrals/treatments, and preparing medical notes.

• All members of staff have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable adults, children and young people in all relevant areas of their work. This will include timely attendance at relevant training events compliant with the Company’s Safeguarding Procedures.
• All members of staff have a contractual obligation to complete all statutory and mandatory training, whether it be delivered face-to-face or via e-learning, deemed relevant to their role.

• Be required to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, visitors, carers, members of the multi-disciplinary care team and senior professional and managerial staff.
• Conform at all times to the Policies and Procedures of the Company, with particular regard to confidentiality, financial and administrative responsibilities and prevention of healthcare-associated infection (HCAI); this includes a requirement for rigorous and consistent compliance with policies for hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment and safe disposals of sharps (where deemed relevant to the role).
• Maintain and support all quality initiatives and objectives introduced into the organisation.
• To be familiar and comply with the service Business Continuity Plan in case of an emergency.
• Take personal responsibility for ensuring that The Huntercombe Group resources are used efficiently and with minimum wastage.
• Have access to a wide range of confidential information about patients, staff and The Huntercombe Group which must not be divulged to any unauthorised person in any circumstances at any time in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures in accordance with Information Governance and the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
