Located in Chesham, this mainstream, 'good' rated by Ofsted secondary school is looking to appoint a School Caretaker to start ASAP, on a Full Time – Temporary basis, with potential to go Long Term for the right candidate.

*** Two shift patterns, working 37 hours a week

*** Weekend work required once a month, with 2 days of choice off in the working week

The Role – School Caretaker – Chesham, Buckinghamshire

This high quality, all girls Secondary Grammar school in Aylesbury are seeking an experienced Caretaker to start ASAP to join their team. This school aims to inspire and challenge to students to achieve exceptional achievement and develop their key skills and qualities to prepare them for their adult lives.

You will possess the ability to operate and understand electrical and mechanical systems, have a good level of competency at building and repairing, have a good understanding of health and safety, COSHE, and manual handling and have good, clear, and concise communication skills

This role requires you to be responsible for all aspects of the site management, including a wide range of duties and responsibilities. You will be required to undertake duties, as directed by the Site Manager, including opening and closing of the school, undertaking minor repairs and maintenance, and supporting the efficient operation of the school through porterage and furniture/equipment relocation. The position has a vital role to play in the smooth running of the school and the use of initiative is important to respond to urgent maintenance problems such as water leaks without needing direction

The Candidate – School Caretaker – Chesham, Buckinghamshire

It is essential that the candidate has the practical ability to problem solve and use initiative can organise, prioritise and complete tasks efficiently, has the ability to work effectively with people from a wide range of levels and responsibilities, works effectively as a team member, works well to complete solo tasks with the minimum supervision, and has good oral and written communication skills
Be physically able to carry out porterage duties, which will involve lifting, able to work at height, have the ability to understand and follow instructions on equipment, materials, etc.
Be able to perform minor repairs and has experience in using hand tools is diligent in completing work to a high standard
Experience of using email, data input (eg completing spreadsheet records of checks or entering information on commercial software and internet research)
Be willing to work weekends
