Leisure Centre Duty Manager
Milton Keynes, MK5 6HF
Salary Range: £19000-£21000 pa
Shenley Leisure Centre was opened in 1991 with a vision and mission to deliver an inclusive range of Health and Wellbeing initiatives to the local community whilst providing a clean, safe, and happy leisure experience.
The Opportunity
You will primarily share our passion for excellent customer service and be responsible for the smooth running of our Leisure Centre.
As our Duty Manager you will:
* Manage the day-to-day operation of the Leisure Centre.
* Ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the Centre whilst achieving commercial and social objectives.
* Have the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a small team to ensure excellence across all operational areas whilst maintaining staff satisfaction.
* Deliver customer service excellence by caring about our loyal users, members and visitors whilst seeking opportunities to build rapport with them and ensure they are happy with their experience.
* Drive income in all areas of the business and create an environment where colleagues can achieve their full potential.
* Conduct tours for prospective new members and hirers.
* Take responsibility for staff, buildings, stock & cash, and in particular the effective delivery of operational functions.
* Lead the shift team to deliver great service and customer engagement.
* Take ownership to resolve member and guest queries or complaints.
* Implement the Centre’s opening and closing procedures.
* Assist with Health and Safety and resolve issues as quickly and efficiently as possible.
* Ensure compliance with all fire, licensing and employment regulations.
* Plan staff shifts and to complete staff rotas ensuring adequate resources to deliver excellent service, or alternatively reducing workforce hours to fit the needs of the business.
The Person
You will have experience of managing a team, be highly organised, comfortable working on your own initiative and able to thrive in a busy multi-tasking environment bringing exceptional communication and organisational skills as you manage and motivate the team.
You will need to be driven and dedicated to managing a busy and demanding workload. Your strengths will include the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a small team to ensure excellence across all operational areas and to ensure a high quality of customer service.
You will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, collaborative spirit as well as a ‘can do’ attitude.
You will need to demonstrate exceptional time management and deadline compliance. A willingness to adopt a “hands on” flexible approach to all areas of the operation is essential.
You must be flexible as this key position involves working on a rotating shift pattern to include weekends, evenings, and bank holidays.
