Buyer – Raw Materials

Based Milton Keynes

Our client is looking for an exerienced raw materials buyer (ideally electronics but will consider other production materials)

Main Function of the Job

Carry out raw material sourcing and purchasing activities as required and compile, issue and process RFQ’s, ensuring there are no shortages to production materials requirement

Job Specification

* Negotiate price and availability of raw materials which includes electronic components and other items

* Carry out Materials price benchmarking as directed/required

* Analysis of supply V demand utilising MRP & other reports to determine requirements – with particular responsibility for non- electronic items and non-production items, ensuring adequate stock availability of raw materials, according to the business plans by the SCM and planning department

* Support NPI activities to ensure short term and long term material stock availability, through tracking requirements of design teams, and working closely with the design team on such requirements

* Place P.O’s for raw materials & Non-production items as necessary, ensuring quality, cost & delivery requirements are met

* Attending weekly meetings where needed to complement purchasing support to the design and engineering teams

* Proactively expedite material requirements from external sources to ensure timely delivery for production and customer needs

* In conjunction with the purchasing department, other departments & suppliers establish and execute corrective actions as required

* Be responsible for purchasing KPIs (processing of suppliers’ delivery data and publishing this monthly) ensuring that suppliers are on target and follow up with suppliers not meeting targets

* Advise purchasing and planning management of any potential delivery delays that could impact production builds and or supplies of raw materials

* Ensure the Avante database reflects changes of delivery schedules as required

* Ensure supplier and raw material parameters are continually up to date

* Ensure invoice queries are processed/resolved in a timely manner as required

* Carry out special exercises/projects as directed by the Materials and Logistics Manager

* Support Stores activities from time to time

* Be the prime contact for the processing of Raw material supplies
