Pertemps Recruitment on behalf of Buckinghamshire Council has an opportunity for a Business Intelligence & Insight Officer. This is a temporary position for six months, though there is potential for this to be extended further if the requirement is there. The pay rate is £25.91 per hour, negotiable depending on experience, and you will be working full time, 37 hours per week.
This is a fulfilling and fast paced role working within the Adult Social Care Business Intelligence & Insight Team. The postholder will analyse information that Social Care Teams record regarding the services that adults receive. This analysis will enable our services to effectively and efficiently manage their day-to-day activity and to improve services for vulnerable people from analytical insights. In this role, the postholder is responsible for understating the services insight requirements, delivering analysis and presenting actionable results and recommendations to the service.
Suitable applicants must have adequate experience with IT systems including Microsoft SQL Server and Business Objects / Power BI (both desirable) and must be comfortable pulling vast amounts of sensitive data from master databases into data warehouses
Responsibilities
To work with customers to plan and develop insight that adds the most value to the service, challenging managers to ensure that their requirements are fully understood.
Deliver high quality and timely analysis and insight that meets service needs to inform decisions to improve service performance (e.g. process improvement, service quality, project delivery, performance management).
Designing and preparing datasets that will enable analysis to be undertaken to meet customers information needs.
To compile, explore, analyse and interpret data using a range of Business Intelligence tools to deliver insight that supports decision making, using analytical tools to undertake analysis.
Develop exploratory insight to understand how services can be transformed or improved to deliver better outcomes for adults, using analytical tools to undertake analysis.
Produce Business Intelligence products and interpret findings to deliver key messages explaining the results so that they are understood by managers.
Present results in an engaging way for a wide range of stakeholders that allows them to understand key messages using visualisation tools and techniques.
To prepare, coordinate and deliver statutory returns required by the Government regarding service users and families.
Engage with local, regional and national forums to identify good practice, stay up to date with the latest thinking, research, policy and developments. Identify further networks and opportunities and engage with these where appropriate.
Proactively horizon scan to ensure that latest technology, tools and techniques are leveraged for maximum benefit. Work with colleagues across the Business Intelligence and Insight function to maximise the use of new reporting tools and capabilities within the team.
Act as a Business Intelligence and Insight champion, providing technical advice, information and guidance to managers and colleagues on full range of technical Business Intelligence and Insight development. Support the development of others in relation to how Business Intelligence and Insight is used across the organisation
Essential Skills and Experience
Educated to degree standard or equivalent.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Relevant experience of working with customers to understand their information requirements and find analytical solutions using on current business intelligence reports to meet their requirements within agreed timeframes.
Authoritative knowledge of analytical approaches with relevant experience of working directly with managers in order to design, explain and justify the chosen approach in a simple, non-technical way.
Relevant knowledge and experience in using complex business intelligence reporting tools to extract data from systems and manipulate this data into information so it can be analysed.
Substantial statistical analysis expertise, with relevant experience in delivering insight that is designed to meet customer objectives, whilst being accurate.
Proven track record of delivering data analysis and insight in a similar environment, to develop analysis that assesses the effectiveness of a diverse range of business objectives e.g. process improvement, service quality, project delivery, performance management.
Relevant experience of a range of visualisation tools that enable the results of complex analysis to be shared in way that is meaningful and relevant to varied audiences across the organisation's management structure.
Well-developed interpersonal skills, confident at delivering key messages to colleagues from across the organisation, by influencing, persuading and negotiating with service managers to inform decisions that improve services.
Proven ability to cope with conflicting and changing demands through good time management and the ability to work under pressure.
