About the Company
Our client are one of the largest leisure companies in the UK, one of their subsidiaries are embarking on a large digital transformation following an acquisition and are looking for a Lead Engineer / Engineering Manager to be the number one person in the team to build out an engineering capability.
Prior to covid, a lot of their bookings were either made through the phone or through a fairly basic booking system. Currently customers aren't able to make changes to add-ons or view their booking histories. After much-needed funding is being injected into the company, they're on a mission to bring their tech which is our-sourced to third parties with a white-labelled solution in house.
The Role
This role would be joining a tech team which currently consists of a Head of Digital, Head of Product, Head of UX and a partnership with third-parties.
This is a truly unique leadership opportunity for you to be the go-to person with the power to make pivotal business decisions and put your stamp on driving this digital transformation.
You'll be a key contributor to making decisions on the technical direction, architecture, strategy, roadmap and more.
Responsibilities
* Working with the rest of the tech leadership team to build a strategy for the digital transformation.
* Building a high performing engineering culture.
* Recruiting your own team and building the recruitment process.
* Defining the architecture.
* Choosing the tech stack (though ideally they'd like to build the platform with React and NodeJS, they're open to suggestions)
* Working with almost a startup mentality of working lean as you build and scale.
* Being hands-on to some extent in the beginning as you grow the team
* Managing the relationship between third party vendors
* Building a culture of continuous feedback and improvement
* Act as a key stakeholder in the OKR process

Salary and Benefits
This role is paying to £90,000 dependent on experience with 22 days holiday + bank holidays (option to buy and sell) + stakeholder pension + generous budget for a solid WFH set up
The Interview Process
The interview process will be in 2 stages, a technical interview and a non technical interview which will all be conducted remotely
