Job Description
An excellent opportunity has become available for a Senior E&I Engineer to join an oil & gas client and work on Medium sized Process, Refinery and Petrochemical Projects. You will assist the project team in the execution of an Engineering Project and the development of E&I Project deliverables to required quality within agreed time schedule.
Responsibilities
You will perform detailed technical analysis of complex project issues. Arrive at sound and prudent decisions, course of action or a conclusion, especially when only limited facts are available. Solve problems quickly.
You will be responsible for the technical content and the co-ordination of the electrical services for the project to which they have been assigned.
You will be capable of providing specialized technical input and assistance to others.
You will coordinate technical issues within discipline and with other engineering staff.
Work activities
These include collection and interpretation of engineering data, development of project design basis, development of specifications, and performance of engineering activities at FEED and EPC phases of major grassroots oil and gas, or petrochemical projects. Some experience of Power generation projects would be advantageous.
At all times ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
Support procurement and subcontract aspects of projects, with engineering knowledge and experience.
Review Client technical requirements and ensure these are incorporated in EPC Contractor’s project related specifications and design drawings.
Coordinate E,C&I related issues with the other disciplines.
Ensure overall quality of the E,C&I design by performing regular reviews.
Participate in formal 3D plant model reviews.
Apply knowledge/skills to a range of activities; act as a technical resource to others in own area and to colleagues with less experience
Develop and/or contribute to the development of project deliverables including:-
Electrical/C&I procedures
Technical specifications
Conceptual designs
Data sheets
P&IDs
One line diagrams
Purchase requisitions
Hazardous area drawings
Preparation of cost estimate input
Typical background and experience required
Must be able to demonstrate previous FEED experience.
Has depth and breadth of experience in the design from first principles of the electrical infrastructure associated with petrochemical plant. Experience of Power station design and UK Grid code requirements would be advantageous.
Has ability to serve as an area technical lead, sharing expertise.
Must be able to demonstrate significant knowledge of UK, European, American and International standards applicable to the petrochemical industry
Experience of project execution under CDM regulations.
Significant understanding of hazardous area requirements, DSEAR, ATEX, IEC 60079, API RP 500 & 505 and IP Part 15.
Good experience of working in many areas on major FEED and EPC projects in process industry. Requirement of depth and breadth of experience in all aspects of C&I Engineering and Design.
Experience of P&ID reviews, HAZOPs and SIL reviews.
Should have experience of developing Specification, Narratives, Cause & Effects, MTOs etc.
Ability to apply in-depth skills and broad knowledge to address complex problems and nonstandard situations. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.
Capable of explaining difficult concepts and able to persuade others to adopt a point of view. Able to motivate other team members.
Manages own time to meet objectives; forecasts and plans resource requirements
Chartered engineer preferred.
