Section Engineer

The role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Section Engineer to work for a Joint Venture on HS2. Our client brings together international, market leading expertise from some of the most successful civil engineering and construction companies.

They are responsible for the delivery of an 80km stretch of new high speed rail link including 15 viaducts, 5km of green tunnels, 22km of road diversions, 67 overbridges and around 30 million cubic metres of excavation. Making the project one of Europe’s most prestigious civil engineering schemes.

We’re seeking to recruit a Section Engineers in the Brackley area with a background working on general civil engineering schemes such as Highways, Structures, Drainage or Earthworks.

The Section Engineer manages junior engineers and assists the Sub Agent in construction operations. Reporting to the Sub Agent and supervising the site engineering team from construction to close out. Assisting with temporary works design schemes, you will liaise with the Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials to carry out works activities to the required standards, programme and budget.

You'll be responsible for managing the site setting-out team and be responsible for the performance and development of the Site Engineers and for identifying and resolving technical problems on site in liaison with the Sub-Agent. Monitoring and coordinating subcontractors in the performance of their works, ensuring they are completed to the contractual requirements.

Ensuring that the team have all current information and resources required to carry out their duties, you will be required to assist with the production of programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans and contribute to financial forecasting.

Criteria:
• Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant HND / HNC
• Experience working for a main contractor
• Experience as a Section Engineer or Site Engineer
• Experience in Highways, Drainage, Structures or Earthworks schemes
