A company that designs and manufactures specialist electrical switching and control products for naval and other applications and defence related industries are recruiting for an Production (stores) Technician to work out of their site in Milton Keynes. This position has come about due to the company’s expansion that they are going through at present.
The right candidate will be required to do anything and everything to support the operation in their factory, from sweeping the floor to working in stores to assembling and wiring equipment and a range of jobs in between. You will be trained on mechanical assembly of our products and on basic wiring and soldering as well as basic inspection and testing and if good enough trained further to undertake more advanced wireman work. In addition, you will be trained on the receiving and shipping of goods as well as the kitting of parts and other stores and warehouse skills. You may also be trained in basic inspection and test work. With this training you'll be able to work in all areas of the production department to provide support when and where it is needed. This is a varied and interesting role for someone with plenty of common sense, plus a good and positive attitude with an attention to detail.
You must have good communication skills, be flexible and be prepared to learn. A good level of education is essential and excellent computer skills are a must. You need to be self-motivated and able to work under your own initiative but also to perform as part of a team and work to high standards whilst under pressure to meet deadlines.
Main Duties
· Soldering and wiring of circuit boards.
· Mechanical pre-build of products.
· Complete assembly and test of small devices.
· Inspection of finished products in line with procedures and drawings.
· Checking wiring continuity by reference to circuit schematics.
· Picking of kits of parts.
· Entering information and updating computer systems.
· Printing of cable and ident markers using specialist software and printers.
· Packing of finished goods ready for despatch.
· Assisting with stock checks.
· Receiving of items and checking of paperwork in goods in.
· Decoration and maintenance tasks within our factory.
Experience in these areas would be useful but most importantly, needed is someone with the right attitude.
The company is offering and attractive package which includes a salary of up to £22000, a company over time system and 25 days holiday and 4% pension.
Please note that because of the defence related nature of their business you will be required to undergo security clearance vetting and will therefore need to have at least five years UK residency.
