Our client is a leading independent prep school and they are looking to hire a Finance Director to join their team
The Role
You will be the lead on financial strategies supporting the strategic and operational objectives of the institution, your duties will include:
* Provide advice and guidance to the Head and Governors on all aspects of the School’s strategy,
* Prepare annual and medium-term financial plans
* Oversee and be responsible for the preparation and submission of all statutory financial accounts and returns
* Prepare an annual budget within a three-year financial plan for presentation to Council
* Compile and present reports to Council, including management accounts and financial plans
* Oversee and monitor budgets and costs of any project work
* Prepare and implement policies and processes concerning the procurement
* Provide support, guidance, challenge and information to budget holders
* Ensure that systems and procedures are maintained
* Oversee the pupil billing process
* Liaise with auditors, banks, insurers and other professional service providers
* Ensure tax obligations are discharged effectively and correctly
* Administer pension schemes
* Develop and manage the reserve policy
* Manage the assessment of bursary applications
* Manage community use of the school site
* Negotiate and manage relationships and contracts
* Review and update the critical incident plan
* Oversee tender processes and project management
* Oversee the management of the School’s vehicle fleet and lease contracts
* In conjunction with the IT manager, lead and manage the IT function within the school
* In conjunction with the Head, oversee the whole school recruitment process
The Candidate
* Be educated to A level standard and preferably a recognised management/business degree or equivalent related professional qualification
* Hold an appropriate accountancy qualification
* At least 3 years’ experience of the line management responsibility
* Experience of premises related project management
* Experience of management of change at a senior level
* Experience of setting and managing budgets
