Remote-based role. Full-time Permanent career opportunity. Interesting opportunity for a candidate with strong core SQL skills – and ideally exposure to additional modern technologies – to work as a data migration / data conversion engineer (‘a.k.a’ projects engineer, professional services), at this well-established and structured global medical software company, supporting new client projects for their U.S. market.
Core tech: SQL (SQL Server, TSQL); with experience/interest in the following very useful – JavaScript, XML, Access, Virtual environments (VMWare, Azure).
Data Migration Engineer – role:
This hugely varied, client-facing position will give you responsibility for the management of ongoing, multiple data conversion projects (on databases with complex entities) in addition to providing general support to the Conversions team.
It will see you thinking on your feet, developing / maintaining / enhancing a range of data migration tools to convert / migrate data from new client’s existing systems to the vendor’s own products, with a particular focus on Cloud work.
Working in a very collaborative and inclusive global team, spanning the UK and US (and communicating with other world locations too) you’ll be gathering requirements, supporting the client through the conversion process, testing for results, and working on any post-conversion issues that may arise, working closing with the software development team.
Data Migration Engineer – the person:
Candidates should have experience covering the technologies below (SQL query writing as a core) with either the transferable skills and ability (or preferably similar/actual data conversions / migrations experience) for this line of work, but the company will train up a less experienced person.
– SQL Server, TSQL, query writing.
– JavaScript, XML, Access, Virtual environments (E.g. VMWare, Azure)
– Useful skills cover: Azure DevOps, C# (conversion utilities) GIT, CTree, C++
It requires an analytical problem solving mind who can grasp the detail in complex processes and systems.
Hours
This is a Monday to Friday role, working 37.5hrs, but with some flexibility to cover an element of both time-zone hours – i.e. ‘US’ (EST) and UK hours. More details provided on application; the client can be flexible here.
Summary
The company offers the opportunity to grow in a well-structured, but continually evolving technical environment alongside the R&D and software development division, where you can settle, utilise your skills but expand your experience and grow with the company for the long-term. Prior staff have gone on to lead in the department, or gone on to work in Software Development. Earnings to £44,000 + range of benefits depending on skills-set and experience, though the client will take a less experienced person to train up. Services advertised by Dupen are those of an Agency
