Financial Accountant

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 Neg

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our well-recognised Banking and Financial Services client. The Bank operates in accordance with Shariah principles and offer savings products and specialise in providing competitive buy-to-let and home purchase finance for UK residents/entities. In addition to this they source and advise on UK real estate investments with a focus on the build to rent/private rented sector.

Role purpose

The Financial Accountant will work closely with the Finance team to manage the product and financial control function and support monthly, quarterly, half-year and year end and reporting.

Key responsibilities

Produce monthly balance sheet and income statement GL code reconciliations
Assist with improving the internal control process
Assist with month-end close process working with the financial team to ensure all entries required are posted into the accounting system
Assist with hedge accounting workings monthly
Performing monthly balance sheet analysis workings
Assist with the Group consolidation process
Assist with interim reviews and annual audit requests
Interrogate the ledger for queries and escalate any issues
Assist in preparation of VAT, CT, PSA return to HMRC
Assist in improving the control framework of the product/financial control
Support product control reporting re-design Skills required

A meticulous and detailed approach in producing analysis and interrogating systems
Ability to work towards strict timeframes and is comfortable with multi-tasking
Ability to demonstrate good organisational and problem-solving skills.
Strong Excel skills.
Familiar with financial ledger systems
Fully qualified ACMA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA
