We have an exciting opportunity with a leading care specialist who are looking for a Nurse Qualified (RGN) Deputy Manager to join their service in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire to support the Home Manager with effective 24-hour management of the home, providing leadership to the nursing and care team. You will be responsible for clinical outcomes, quality of nursing assessments, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of care staff training issues to ensure that residents have an excellent standard of care. Taking responsibility for the safeguarding of adults and following the organisation’s whistleblowing policy is also a priority. The home specialises in supporting the elderly and people with dementia, end of life care and physical disabilities, so experience within this client group would be ideal.
The successful Deputy Nurse Manager will be responsible for:
* Lead the team of nursing and care staff with excellent clinical practice, creating an open, positive, and inclusive atmosphere whilst ensuring that residents’ privacy, dignity, choice, independence, and safety are actively promoted at all times.
* Facilitate and engage in positive working relationships with GPs, hospitals, local agencies, and the wider multidisciplinary team, acting as the resident’s advocate where necessary to ensure the best outcomes.
* Undertake the assessment of resident care needs, developing care plans and evaluating programmes of care as necessary, in partnership with the resident and/or their relatives wherever possible.
* Actively supervise and monitor care practices, identifying and responding appropriately to the changing needs of residents.
* Oversee transfers of care e.g., to or from hospital, or other necessary appointments.
* Act as a role model, participating in the induction, mentorship, teaching, and supervision of new care staff.
* Be aware of the NMC Code of Conduct and adhere to this at all times.
* Ensure all medications, including controlled drugs, are ordered, stored, administered, and disposed of in accordance with the Company’s medicine policy, NMC and CQC guidance on drug administration.
* Discuss performance and future development needs with the Home Manager as part of your appraisal, taking responsibility for your own professional development.
* Responsibility for the safeguarding of adults and follow the Company’s whistle blowing policy as required.
* Participation in staff meetings.
* Participation in training activities.
* Participation in staff supervision and personal development review.
* Participation in quality assurance systems.
* Take responsibility for personal development by keeping abreast of development in the field of caring for older people.
Key Skills of a Deputy Nurse Manager:
* Caring and sympathetic with a passion to support others.
* Experience with supporting individuals with mental health needs and complex needs.
* IT Literate.
* Basic knowledge of legislation, policies, and procedures.
* You will need to be RGN qualified.
* Valid PIN and knowledge of National Standards and NMC Code of Practice.
* Person centred planning within a care home.
* A willingness to coach, guide and support your team on a daily basis, including providing formal and informal programmes of teaching to colleagues and other care professionals.
* A respectful, courteous, and compassionate nature and belief in giving your personal best at all times.
