What does the role involve?
As Product Development Manager, you will contribute to the delivery of the Flex-R and D&T long and medium-term strategy to become a market leading innovator within the sector it operates through the introduction of new products. The role will engage directly with all product & service development while at the same time understanding the life cycle of current products re-inventing and revitalising products to maximise their potential.
Key responsibilities include:
Being responsible for new products & services from pre-design to sale.
Determining customers' requirements by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.
Recommending the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product changes.
Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products and creating full competitor mapping/matrix
Input into Marketing plans for new products by providing source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.
Contributing to Flex-R and D&T obtaining product market share by working with Directors to develop product sales strategies.
Assesses product market data by calling on customers with Sales Managers and evaluating sales call results.
To assist the sales teams to put a sales strategy in place where required with regards to new products.
Work alongside all departments to create accurate sales opportunities and long & short term sales forecasting of new products.
Be a facilitator and manage specific actions involving the launch of new products all with timeframes and accountability.
Liaise and organise training schedules on new products to wider sales teamThe successful candidate will require:
Have a solid knowledge and experience of launching new products
Knowledge required of flat roofing products and the marketplace – this is essential
Experience of supplier negotiations for the construction industry
Thorough understanding of applicable British and European standards / legislation
Strong knowledge of construction industry
Experienced and proficient in managing product processes from conception to sales
Excellent problem solving and solution selling skills
Strong IT skills, proficient in all Outlook programmes
