An experienced Commercial Manager based from home but travel to offices in Oxford & Leicester plus client sites across the UK, who comes with a commercial background is required to help this continuously expanding Logistics business. Responsible for working within the Commercial Team to deliver pragmatic, commercial support to this Logistics business. You will work in a way which protects Unipart’s interests whilst also ensuring that Customer’s find Unipart easy to do business with. You will be responsible for providing creative commercial solutions which support the ongoing profitability of the Logistics Business, ensuring competitive advantage is maintained by putting in place robust commercial arrangements with customers and suppliers. In this role, you will be involved for the whole contract lifecycle, including the drafting, negotiation and commercial management of a range of contracts and other commercial documentation.
The Role will require you to;
Provide a pragmatic and value-add commercial support to throughout the entire sales and delivery process
Ensure the business is protected contractually, negotiating customer contracts and maintaining a detailed knowledge of all contractual arrangements across the business
Working closely with the Sector Teams to develop relationships with, and an understanding of the commercial approach of, our customers
Working with the Sector Teams to maximise the profitability of the contracts whilst understanding the impact on Unipart’s future business opportunities
Ensure contractual arrangements are pro-actively reviewed on an ongoing basis in order to maximise commercial benefit and accurately reflect business activity
Engage with the legal team to ensure that contracts put in place are legally enforceable.
Working with the legal team to resolve disputes and claims with customers to meet Unipart’s best interests.
Support the creation of the corporate plan, working with all areas across the business to analyse market data and formulate any changes needed to the company strategy
Work with the Commercial team to support Group-wide projects e.g. GDPR / Risk Management
Support the company’s Customer Engagement system, ensuring consistency of process and sharing of best practice, particularly in the area of account planning, negotiation and related commercial discussions
Experience & Skills Required
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
Demonstrate a proven track-record of delivering pragmatic commercial support to the Logistics Business Sector
Possess excellent commercial and negotiation skills with proven ability to work in complex and highly competitive environments.
Be able to create compelling bids and develop them to the point of conversion to a successful outcome
Demonstrate an understanding of the different types of commercial and operational risk in the Logistics business sector and the solutions required to manage these risks throughout the lifecycle of the contract.
Thorough understanding of commercial processes and typical contractual terms with a good understanding of contract law.
Appreciation of the factors which impact profitability of a contract.
Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills
Highly robust, able to operate in a pressured environment of personal accountability and used to a fast moving, dynamic and constantly evolving environment
Demonstrate good interpersonal, organisational and communication skills with a clear ability to communicate at all levels in the organisation
Proven ability to build strong relationships within a matrix organisation to ensure that the commercial team is seen as a trusted adviser.
Down to earth, approachable, will not take yourself too seriously
