My Milton Keynes based Manufacturer and Distributor are currently looking for a Global Purchasing Manager to join their team on a full time and permanent basis.
Duties: –
* Sourcing all products from an assigned Region(s) for multiple Markets.
* Drive value by optimising quality, service, cost, and inventory.
* Building close partnerships with existing as well as new suppliers.
* Committing to timely and efficient launching of new products, activating alternative sources, negotiating purchasing agreements, conducting bids, etc. to meet the company’s short and long-term business plans.
* Day to day buying accountability for assigned component and material categories for select markets as well as responsibility for managing other personnel.
* Source and on-board new vendors
* Manage a diverse supplier base that provides agility and value
* Track the performance of suppliers and ensure they are meeting established targets.
* Develop and monitor key performance metrics including OTIF deliveries, defect rates, purchase price variance, inventory levels, freight cost, on-time payment, customer order fulfilment, invoicing, and other related administrative topics
* Integrate with Product Development, Sales, Finance, and other Operations groups using a cross functional approach to successfully launch new products and serve customer needs
* Utilize the "Total Cost of Ownership" model to generate more competitive negotiating environments with new and existing suppliers to achieve real cost savings
* Maintain Quality Management standards through our suppliers
* Establish “internal customer” relationships with Product Development to support new product launches, qualify primary and alternate sources, complete Value Engineering programs, etc.
* Identify and mitigate key supply chain risks with particular focus on Business Continuity Plans (BCP’s)
* Oversee and mentor all assigned personnel
Key Skills: –
* You will have a progressive career path in strategic procurement, sourcing, and inventory management with a portion of the time in managerial roles
* Global procurement leadership responsibilities with extensive experience working with suppliers and a proven track record of creating sourcing strategies that resulted in significant cost savings
* If you have a procurement background in commodities such as aluminium, stainless steel, galvanized steel, plastic extrusion, injection molding, textiles, fiber glass, and concrete this would be advantageous
* Qualifications in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations, Logistics, Engineering, or related disciplines
* Experience working with a mainstream Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool – e.g. Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, etc
